How the WordPress plugin connects to ClickCease
ClickCease Click Fraud Protection connects a WordPress site to the ClickCease service. An active subscription is required. The service monitors incoming paid, organic, and direct traffic to help identify invalid activity, including bots, competitors, and malicious users that may affect advertising campaigns and marketing funnels. Paid traffic sources include Google, Facebook, and Microsoft.
Traffic monitoring and bot protection
ClickCease uses AI software for click fraud protection and on-site bot detection and prevention. Its traffic monitoring is intended to help site owners identify unwanted visits across several sources. The plugin listing says its synchronous code does not slow page or site load speeds.
Lead Shield form validation
Sites connected to a ClickCease 2.0 account with Lead Shield can choose forms in the ClickCease dashboard for validation. Supported integrations are Gravity Forms, WPForms, and Contact Form 7. Validation results are added to Gravity Forms and WPForms entries and appear in the dashboard for all three integrations. Only selected forms are validated; other submissions are discarded.
Data sent to connected services
When Bot Zapping is active, the plugin sends a visitor's IP address, page URL, browser headers, and CHEQ cookie to CHEQ for a decision about whether to block the visit. CHEQ tag and ClickCease tracking scripts load in the visitor's browser. ClickCease tracking can be turned off in the plugin settings.
The plugin verifies ClickCease keys and sends installation status, plugin version, site domain, and logs to support the installation; logs can include visitor IP addresses. For sites using Lead Shield, submissions from selected forms send the email address, phone number, form identifiers, and ClickCease visit identifier to CHEQ, along with the form names. The settings page also uses Mixpanel for usage analytics linked to the ClickCease client ID.
Installation and subscription
Install the plugin, activate it through the WordPress Plugins menu, then enter your ClickCease API keys in the plugin settings and click Save to enable protection. You need an active ClickCease subscription to use the plugin. ClickCease offers a seven-day free trial for a traffic audit and getting started with blocking bad traffic.
