PWA for WP Pro

How the manifest and service worker create an app-style experience

PWA for WP Pro adds progressive web app features to WordPress and AMP websites. A web app manifest holds configurable application details, while a service worker installs in the background and handles tasks such as caching external objects to reduce requests. The plugin supports AMP through compatibility with AMPforWP and AMP for WordPress by Automattic.

Site administrators configure the application details and presentation in the WordPress dashboard. Visitors can add the site’s app version to their device’s apps or home screen, where it can open in a full-screen mobile view without browser toolbar elements.

How offline support and caching affect access

The PWA version can load when a visitor is offline, then update its content after the connection returns. Analytics can also update when the visitor comes back online. Administrators can choose a caching strategy for PWA-enabled assets and configure cache expiration; the service worker can cache external objects.

Offline access depends on the configured PWA and caching options. The plugin provides controls for those settings, including a start URL, device orientation, and an option to hide the scrollbar.

How navigation and display controls shape browsing

Visitors can swipe left or right to load previous and next articles. Administrators can customize the application icon, name and short name, set splash-screen background colors, and customize the welcome splash screen. The mobile PWA can open without browser toolbar elements for a more app-like display.

How multisite and tracking support larger setups

The Pro feature set includes multisite support, UTM tracking, and OneSignal support with multisite. Configurable start URLs and display settings give administrators additional control across WordPress installations.

Setup connects application details with site behavior

Install PWA for WP Pro on the site where the app-style experience is needed. In the plugin settings, administrators can enter the application and short names, upload an icon, choose the start page and orientation, set splash-screen colors, and review system status. They can then configure caching, offline, AMP, tracking, and display options for the site.

Additional premium extensions cover other features

Additional premium extensions are listed for calls to action, loading icons, data analytics, pull to refresh, scroll progress, PWA to APK, offline forms, navigation bars, quick actions, multilingual compatibility, BuddyPress, install rewards, QR codes, PWA to iOS, and whitelabel functionality.
